In our April and July 2022 communications, we shared that the Government of Ontario introduced a temporary three-month premium holiday (a break from paying monthly Optional Upgrade Package (OUP) premiums) for the retiree-paid Emergency Out-of-Country plan (OUP) from August 1, 2022 to October 31, 2022.

This temporary OUP premium holiday ends on October 31 and your monthly premiums will resume effective November 1, 2022. At that time OUP premiums will be reflected on the ADP statement of earnings and deductions for your November 2022 pension payment. No Action is required from you at this time.

Please note if you wish to terminate OUP coverage, you must provide OPB with one month’s advance notice in writing, along with a completed OPB1137 - Supplementary Life Insurance and Optional Upgrade Package Change form (PDF) through your OPB e-services account, or by mail. The decision to terminate coverage is irrevocable. Once terminated, you will not be able to re-enrol in OUP in the future.
