Who we are
Ontario Pension Board (OPB) is the administrator of the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP), a major defined- benefit pension plan sponsored by the Government of Ontario. Our membership base is made up of certain employees of the provincial government and our agencies, boards and commissions.
With $26.6 billion in assets and with more than 43,000 members, 37,000 retired members and 5,900 former members, the PSPP is one of the largest and oldest pension plans in Canada.
Why join OPB?
When you work for OPB, you are part of an inclusive organization with a reputation as an international industry leader for service excellence. It's a reputation gained by recognizing today's opportunities and challenges, while viewing them through the lens of tomorrow and responding with agility.
At the foundation of OPB is our pension promise to protect the long-term sustainability of the PSPP; to invest assets to maximize returns within acceptable risk parameters; to keep contribution levels reasonably stable and affordable; and to deliver superior, cost-effective service.
It's our approach to delivering the pension promise that recently earned us the number two spot out of 11 comparable Canadian pension plans.
At OPB, our strength comes from our team of professionals with diverse backgrounds, talents and experiences, across a wide range of disciplines. We form a dynamic organization where people are challenged to anticipate, analyze and adapt. Success at OPB means supporting our Advise and Protect vision, thinking and acting strategically to realize that vision and above all else, delivering superior service.
OPB prides itself on building client relationships and supporting Advisory Services, a unique initiative that gives our clients personalized, one-on-one consultations at critical milestones in their lives. Staying ahead of the curve and succeeding in a challenging investment climate requires a forward-thinking approach. OPB employees work hard to shape, shift and strengthen our investments program, always looking ahead for ways to keep the PSPP vibrant, resilient and enduring.
As leaders and trusted advisors, our employees thrive in a culture based on respect, integrity and collaboration, with the goal of supporting a high-performing organization.
Update on hiring protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At OPB, the health and safety of our employees, clients, vendors and stakeholders is our top priority. In accordance with the advice of applicable public health authorities, we have transitioned to work-from-home to mitigate the risk of the potential spread of COVID-19.
As a result, we have also adjusted our recruitment practices to include virtual interviews and online assessments of candidates. New employees will participate in a virtual onboarding process and will be equipped to work from home until we determine, based on the available public health advice and guidance, a return to our downtown Toronto workplace.
Think strategic. Think dynamic. Think sustainable. Think leadership. Think OPB.
