At OPB, the health and well-being of our employees and clients continues to be our top priority, which is why we have continued to work and serve our clients remotely to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

Stay safe: Download the COVID App

As the pandemic continues, there are a number of steps you can take to protect yourself and your community, including physical distancing, wearing a mask and downloading the COVID Alert exposure app. The app can help you understand if you might have been exposed to COVID-19 so you can take the necessary health precautions to protect yourself, your loved ones and the community. To download the app, visit the app store (Apple or Google Play) or simply scan the QR code below using the camera on your phone:

Once you download the app, you’ll need to activate it in once it has been downloaded to your device. The app does not track, collect or share any personal health information, your identity or your location. The information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario and the federal Office of the Privacy Commissioner both assessed the COVID Alert app, and support its use. To learn more about the app, download the factsheet.

An update from OPB

We’ve now been working from home for close to six months, and it’s been awhile since we provided an update on how the Plan is doing and the supports we have in place to serve our clients virtually.

First, we want to reassure you that your pension remains secure and that our retired members will continue to receive their pension payments as scheduled. While there continues to be economic challenges and episodic volatility in the markets, it’s important to remember the PSPP has successfully managed through challenging markets in the past. So far in 2020, the Plan has generated a positive return and more importantly, we remain confident in our long-term investment strategy.

How we’re serving you virtually

Although our office at 200 King Street West is closed, we remain committed to providing our clients with excellent service and support. Our Client Care Associates remain available during our standard office hours: Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST). We are here to help you by email at clientservice@opb.ca or by phone at 1-800-668-6203 (Canada & USA). We also encourage you to visit opb.ca to stay informed about any important updates or service announcements.

Continuing to advise and protect

We’re proud of our unique Advisory services model, which allows members to get personalized advice from Client Service Advisors, all of whom are Certified Financial Planners. Our Advisors provide unbiased advice to help you make informed decisions about your pension within your broader life and financial circumstances. While the pandemic has prevented our Advisors from meeting with members in person, we’ve adapted our model to take advantage of digital technology. Our 1-on-1 sessions are now available via video chat or telephone, and you can sign up through your OPB e-services account. To book a session, log into e-services and select Book my 1-on-1. A Client Service Advisor will respond within two business days to schedule an appointment.

Keeping your documents secure

In addition to being the place where you can maintain your personal information and access valuable pension tools, our e-services website now allows you to send us confidential documents securely. To help you avoid having to send physical mail to OPB during the pandemic, we introduced a new Secure Document Upload tool. This tool keeps your key documents secure and confidential and offers a convenient way for you to connect with OPB from home. You can access this tool by selecting Secure Document Upload in your e-services account.

E-Services available from opb.ca
