OPB President & CEO Darwin Bozek to retire in January 2027

Statement from OPB Chair Grant B. Walsh on the retirement of OPB President & CEO Darwin Bozek

It is with regret that I share that President & CEO Darwin Bozek has announced he will be retiring at the end of January 2027. After more than three decades in public service both in Alberta and Ontario, Darwin is returning to Alberta and is looking forward to being able to spend more time with his family. The Board is currently undertaking an executive search to recruit for his successor.

Darwin joined OPB in early 2024, first in the interim role of President & Chief Pension Officer and then in August of that year, taking over as OPB's President & CEO.

Under his leadership, OPB has advanced many key business priorities, including the development of its new long-term Strategic Plan, furthering plan sustainability, and supporting progress on OPB's critical pension modernization program, which will help improve operational efficiency and enhance the client experience.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Darwin for his leadership and wise counsel. It has been a pleasure working with him. I thank Darwin for his service and the important contributions he made during his tenure.

It is the intention of the Board to have a successor appointed before the end of the year.

We wish Darwin Bozek every good thing.
