Please note: The video above instructs you to click ‘e-services’ on our website to access the member portal. We recently made enhancements to this section of our website. To access e-services, click ‘Login’ in the top right corner of OPB.ca and click Member Registration(opens in a new tab) or Member Login(opens in a new tab)

e-services – our secure online member portal – has tools and services that help you plan for and manage your retirement. The portal has been designed based on your feedback and on the best practices for service and security, including two-step authentication, also known as multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Let’s get started! Here is a step-by-step guide to activating your e-services account.

1. Verify your identity

  • Go to the e-services registration page(opens in a new tab).
  • Enter your OPB client number to verify your identity and click “Continue.” You can find your client number on the top right corner of your Annual Pension Statement or Retired Member Statement. If you can’t find your statements or you client number, you can call us for assistance at 1-800-668-6203 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
  • Click “Send verification code” to have an email sent to you with a secure, one-time code. Wait a few seconds to receive an email from e-services. The email will contain a time-sensitive verification code. Copy and paste or type the code into the box on the Login page and click “Continue.”

2. Create your account

  • Create a personalized username that you will use every time you login to your account. For the best possible e-services experience, we recommend that you do not use an email address as your username.
  • Create a password. Your password must be at least 12 characters and include a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter and a number. It cannot include any parts of your username or your first or last name.
  • Choose a security question. You can create your own or select from the list. Type in your answer. Your answer must be at least four characters. Make sure it’s easy for you to remember, but secure enough that someone could not easily guess it.
  • Click “Terms of use” to read our Terms of use and Privacy Policy and check the box to agree to the Terms of use.
  • Click “Complete registration.”

3. Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Once you’ve registered for e-services, you must set up your preferred multi-factor authentication method to add another layer of security to your account.

  • Go to the Login page and enter the username and password that you just created. Click “Login.”
  • From the list of options, choose the method of authentication that suits you best. In future, whenever you login to your account, you’ll be sent a secure one-time code using the method you selected.
  • Let’s say you want to use email as your preferred method of authentication. Click “Setup.” On the next screen, click “Email me the code.”
  • In a few seconds, you’ll receive an email from us with a randomly generated code.
  • Copy and paste or type the code into the box on the e-services screen and click “Verify.”
  • Congratulations! You’ve activated your e-services account and set up an MFA method. You can now use e-services to access your personal pension information, update and review your beneficiaries or use the online tools to see how you’re tracking toward your retirement code.
  • If you need assistance setting up your MFA method, please call us at -800-668-6203 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST Monday to Friday.

4. Logging in to e-services

Going forward, you will use the same two-step process whenever you want to access e-services. Here’s how to login to your account.

  • Go to eservices.opb.ca(opens in a new tab)
  • Enter your username and password and click “Login.”
  • This step of the login process will be different depending on the MFA method that you set up (especially if you are using a method, such as Windows Hello, that relies on face or voice recognition or your fingerprint), but there should be an option to click “Send me the code.” Copy and paste or enter the verification code and click “Verify.”
  • Once verified, you will be logged in to your account.
  • If you have set up more than one MFA method, you can change your preferred method at login by clicking the down arrow in the circular icon on the first screen after appears after you enter your username and password.

You can change your MFA method or add an additional method at any time by clicking “Security settings” in the “My account” menu option in your e-service account. Before you make changes to any security settings, including changing your Okta security questions, you will be asked to verify your identity through MFA for added security.
